Timing cover gasket – replace during chain job?
Timing chain rattling on cold start for my 1.2 PureTech Peugeot. Planning chain+tensioner replacement soon. Should I do the front cover gasket at the same time? Worried about leaks afterward if I skip it.

Absolutely replace the timing cover gasket (and any crankshaft seal) while the cover is off- it's cheap insurance against future leaks, and labor is already there. Old gaskets often harden and weep oil once disturbed. I did a chain job recently and included it- engine bay stayed dry. Sourced a full timing cover gasket set from https://elartcom.eu/categories/engine-gaskets-and-seals-90 - they had the kit for PSA engines including O-rings and seals where needed. Fit snug, no seepage after 12k km. Makes the whole job more complete. Their category lists specific engine codes- handy for getting all the little bits in one go.
